It should complement our loden products, have a hunting color scheme, but not rely solely on typical shades of green and instead have a more modern look. Developing it ourselves was not an option because shirts are a completely different expertise that requires a specialist to ensure the final fit and quality of craftsmanship. The search was long, and in the end, we found what we were looking for almost right on our doorstep...With the Mönchengladbach family business Dufour (DU4), which has been in existence for two generations, we have found a partner that specializes exclusively in high-quality shirts. Together with one of the two owners, David Dufour, we have now developed our first hunting shirt - a genuine WALDKAUZ shirt that is the perfect complement to our loden fleece and loden jackets, without needing to hide behind them in terms of quality.The cotton twill used is already pre-washed and will no longer shrink (we tested it extensively ourselves!). The buttons are sewn on with stems and welded, ensuring they will not come off. All buttonholes are sewn with 180 stitches, making them durable. The back seam is stitched with a chain stitch, allowing it to be easily unpicked from bottom to top. This provides approximately 4cm more width in the waist. Collar stays keep the Kent collar in shape, and sleeves with sufficient length allow for easy rolling up. A rounded, slightly shortened hem also allows you to wear the shirt over your pants. Furthermore, it is not a knit fabric (as typical for fleece) but rather an authentic doubleface loden, which is a tightly woven fabric that has been intensively napped on both sides. With a weight of approximately 600g/m, it can be described as heavy-duty quality. We developed this fabric specifically for our purposes in collaboration with our textile manufacturer. It is custom-made for us and combines wind-resistant properties with excellent insulation and a supremely comfortable, super-soft feel. Through special yarn structure, thickness, and an elaborate napping process, the fabric obtains an incredibly soft and dense surface on both sides. I loved those stories and the rugged Adams, and as a child, I was fascinated by his wild wilderness life and particularly remembered the coarse wool shirt he wore. So when we decided to add a rustic loden shirt to our WALDKAUZ collection, the old Adams was the first thing that came to mind. We wanted our shirt to be just like his, maybe with a slightly more modern cut. Well, in the end, our talented seamstresses had more influence, and they prevented me from designing a woolen balloon with sleeves. But even with a modern, well-fitting cut, the "Grimbart" shirt is far from an ordinary lumberjack or hunting shirt—it has become something truly special! By the way, the resilient loden fabric can handle quite a bit of dirt: Most dirt, such as soil, can be easily brushed off after drying. Mongolian wool Pure Mongolian wool is particularly soft and warming. Additionally, it is undyed. The coarse outer hair of the sheep is used for the production of carpets and sturdy felt, while the fine undercoat, with a fineness comparable to cashmere, serves as the raw material for our wool blanket. The mulesing-free wool is processed purely mechanically, without any chemical additives. The yarn is spun in a German spinning mill in Brandenburg, and the weaving and finishing up to the final blanket are done in the Tirschenreuth textile factory in Bavaria. It's no coincidence that game, berries, and mushrooms go so well together. While hunting is reserved for those who have completed extensive study in the wild, mushroom picking still falls under the "common right," as long as one adheres to the applicable rules regarding nature conservation and collection quantities.   We have also been enthusiastic mushroom pickers for decades and are particularly pleased with a delicious piece of game accompanied by freshly gathered forest mushrooms. In consideration of the quality of the collected mushrooms, as well as the conservation of the species, there are a few golden rules to follow when picking mushrooms. One of them is the proper handling and transportation of the "spoils": On one hand, the mushrooms should be transported in a well-ventilated manner to prevent them from spoiling in their own moisture, and on the other hand, they should be able to release their spores along the way.   The very sympathetic idea behind this is that, in return for taking the fruiting body (i.e., the mushroom), one contributes to the propagation of its species by spreading the falling spores over the forest floor. The only problem is that you usually discover the largest porcini mushrooms and the most beautiful chanterelles when the mushroom basket is in its deep sleep on the basement steps. Such a cumbersome thing is not always at hand, and in the end, despite all good intentions, the shopping bag ends up being used as a means of transportation.   So, now we present a wonderful, quirky idea that has been slumbering in our drawer for years!   Our super-compact bag for mushroom collection, which gets everything right: "Mitbringsel"   The reason why this idea has been slumbering in our drawer for so long was mainly the search for the right material, and we've found it! The bag is made by us from pure linen, which is woven so loosely that perfect air circulation can take place, allowing even the largest mushroom spores to easily find their way back (and down) to the forest floor. Moreover, the lightweight bag is equipped with a closure made of our proven oiled nubuck leather, which allows it to shrink down to pocket size when rolled up. When opened, the leather closure can even be pulled under the belt, similar to a belt loop, providing two free hands while collecting (one for the mushroom and one for the obligatory mushroom knife).   Linen Material: Pure nature!   But linen has not only delighted us for this product due to its excellent properties but also because of its history, its characteristics as a pure natural fiber, and its great sustainability. It is, in fact, a very regional and pure natural product. Flax is grown, among other places, in northern France, and our linen is processed into the fabric we use in Belgium. Our recommendation is to care for the leather as rarely as possible, as over time, with use, the leather becomes polished and more resistant to external influences. However, if the leather comes into regular contact with water, such as frequent use in the rain, it may be beneficial to apply leather grease. The general rule is still to use the grease sparingly and infrequently rather than applying it too frequently. Constant re-greasing can make the leather softer, which is often not desired.The "Mountaineer Leather Grease" we offer and recommend is a German quality product that we use ourselves. It is used for the final treatment of freshly sewn products as well as for maintaining our long-serving equipment, proving its reliability. We offer the colorless grease in two sizes, 100ml and 200ml. It is also suitable for other types of leather that occasionally require some greasing.
