Optical Carrying System "Linsentopf"

When it comes to securing and carrying our ever-expanding range of hunting optics, every huntsman and huntswoman has their own unique approach. Where a binocular once hung around the neck of the nighttime wild boar hunter, there now dangles a thermal imaging camera. The temperature-sensitive lens makes it much easier to spot wild boar under nocturnal conditions. However, binoculars have not lost their significance in well-lit conditions and remain the preferred tool for observing game during "normal" hunting times.

Especially in mountainous terrain, during stalking, or even while heading to a hunting stand, two factors are crucial for all types of hunting optics: fatigue-free carrying and quick access to the device. It is of no use if the optics are in the backpack while wild boar are in the field. And if a heavy pair of binoculars digs into your neck or a thermal imaging camera swings back and forth across your chest, these items will eventually find their way back into the aforementioned backpack.

So, regardless of the type of hunting optics, an ergonomic, quiet, and functional storage solution is needed that allows immediate access. It should be as flexible as possible to accommodate our various equipment depending on the type of hunt and time of day.

Wouldn't it be great if we could carry all our different daytime and nighttime optics in the same container? "Yes," we think so, and that's why we've created the Linsentopf!

Silent carrying case for binoculars and night vision devices with versatile applications

What on earth is the WALDKAUZ Linsentopf now?
The Linsentopf is a well-padded felt bag with a silent leather closure that can accommodate a binocular, a thermal imaging camera, or any other hunting "lenses" (e.g., night vision attachments, additional optics, small spotting scopes, or even a small camera) depending on its size. An optional insert allows for variable division and padded separation of the different optics.

Ergonomic chest bag for daytime and nighttime optics for fatigue-free carrying

The optical case is worn on the chest, providing immediate access to the optics. When moving in challenging terrain, it sits close to the body and doesn't dangle. Its fit is highly variable and can be adjusted to one's body size using the carrying straps at four points. Side buckles allow for quick attachment and removal. On the back, there is a leather trim that keeps the straps apart, preventing strap or optic tangling.

Practical details for modern nighttime hunting optics

When used as a daytime optics case, the optional insert, an open-ended felt cylinder, is inserted into the main compartment using Velcro. This insert can be placed to the sides or in the middle of the main compartment as desired. It separates the optics from the rest of the bag, creating space for additional items, such as a flashlight, a hunting knife, reading glasses, or even a night vision attachment, if applicable.

On the front and back of the bag, there are two additional flat pockets for small items. The inner pocket also has rubber loops that can hold either bullets or shotgun shells, or batteries. These loops are positioned centrally, allowing them to fit into the groove on the underside of the binoculars without adding bulk.

To secure binoculars, thermal imaging cameras, or night vision devices, there are two D-rings on both sides of the carrying strap to which additional adjustable fastening loops can be attached. This optional accessory has a clip at the end that can be attached to the optics. This "Retention Strap for Linsentopf" is available separately as an optional accessory.

Versatile chest bag

In addition to optics, the Linsentopf can also be used as a small storage or equipment bag for various hunting purposes. And this brings us back to the beginning of this text and each person's unique approach. What lenses we put in the "pot" and whether we prefer to use it with or without an insert is entirely up to the individual.

Thermal imaging cameras, binoculars, night vision devices – Which size for which device?

The Linsentopf comes in various sizes and can be customized to your needs with the optional insert and retention straps. The elastic closure provides approximately 3-4 cm of height adjustment for each size. When using different devices, it's best to consider the device with the greatest overall height. In terms of basic dimensions, almost all common night vision devices, thermal imaging cameras, and binoculars (except for the old Porro prism models!) fit in the bags. The crucial factor in choosing the model is the height.

Internal dimensions of the different models:

1.2-liter Linsentopf (S): approx. 14 x 17 x 6 cm (WxHxD) – Optics up to 17 cm in height
1.5-liter Linsentopf (M): approx. 14 x 20 x 6 cm (WxHxD) – Optics up to 20 cm in height
1.8-liter Linsentopf (L): approx. 14 x 23 x 6 cm (WxHxD) – Optics up to 23 cm in height
The insert (felt tube with a 7.5 cm inner diameter) and the retention strap for securing hunting optics are available separately.
