Leather waterproofing using traditional methods
This leather waterproofing is based on an ancient and proven recipe, with its main components being beeswax, balsam oil, and linseed oil. Balsam oil is a derivative of tree resin (usually pine) that, when combined with wax and oil, deeply penetrates the leather, sealing it effectively. In the past, such a mixture was THE waterproofing solution for leather mountaineering boots.
The waterproofing is simply applied to the leather. For enhanced penetration, one can use a hairdryer to warm the surface after application. A pleasant side effect of this natural waterproofing is the pleasant and intense scent of pine that emanates from the freshly applied treatment!
Of course, this mixture can also be used for other leather goods such as bag covers or closure straps. Dr. Gee's Leather Waterproofing is handmade in Germany according to a traditional recipe and is free from dyes and, more importantly, fluorocarbons.
