Warm and soft knit beanie made of 100% Merino wool
When it gets cold outside in winter, the "Hiasl" wool hat keeps you pleasantly warm while allowing optimal ventilation due to its processing and high-quality wool fiber. The hat is knitted according to our specifications and from yarn specially adapted to our loden products, so it blends perfectly into our nature-inspired color palette.
The "Hiasl" is a ribbed knit hat in the style of a "beanie" made of Merino wool with a height of approximately 21 cm. It not only keeps the head warm but is also pleasantly soft due to the material. The fluffy melange yarn, with its blend of brown and dark green tones, creates an earthy and vibrant brown that complements our other natural colors. On the approximately 9 cm wide cuff, the subtle WALDKAUZ leather label was hand-sewn vertically along the ribs.
By the way, there is also the "Hiasl" wool scarf made of the same material to complement the beanie.
The ways of the owl are unfathomable — or how "Hiasl" came to be...
When our good friend Mathias "Hisi" (yes, the illustrator of our first aid primer!) introduced us to his friend and neighbor during one of our visits to Bayreuth, it was no coincidence: The fact that one of them manufactures hunting and outdoor equipment from loden, and the other is a co-owner of a long-established family business with a history of over 140 years, specializing for generations in the production of high-quality woolen knitwear and fabrics, was reason enough for Hisi to simply bring the two friends together—for whatever reason. What a good idea! Since the first meeting, we, together with the company Fraas, which we are talking about here, have put a lot of creative work into several projects that will be presented here at WALDKAUZ in due course.
The first result of our collaboration is this beautiful and warm set of merino wool hat and scarf, named as a small homage to its mediator, "Hiasl." By the way, the name "Hiasl" or "Hisi" is not only the Bavarian short form of Mathias but also has its origins in a baroque figure from the early hunting history of Bavaria, where Hiasl became a Bavarian Robin Hood and a wild poacher in the books. That his career ended for him in a not-so-romantic disaster, we leave aside for the sake of the beautiful story. If you want to know more, sneak along here...
