If our fluffy “Huber” jackets made of thick loden fleece are too warm for you, then you'll love our new Raudi! For this jacket, we’ve used smooth woven loden and given it an even more comfortable cut.
Unlike loden fleece, woven loden is thinner and less fluffy. It is slightly less warm, but significantly more wind-resistant, as the densely felted surface lies flat against the fabric. Thanks to the outstanding climate-regulating properties of loden, this jacket is well suited for a wide temperature range. Whether for hiking, trekking, or leisure, it keeps you warm and balances your internal body temperature through moisture absorption, breathability, and wind resistance. In many situations, the material provides enough insulation on its own—only in very cold weather will you need an additional outer layer. From spring through autumn, the Raudi shines.
Loden is Sustainable
Wool is a renewable and biodegradable raw material. As a pure natural fiber, it does not remain in the ecosystem or cause harm. Our loden is made in Germany, ensuring fair production and the highest quality standards. It naturally complies with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
The Perfect Outdoor Material: STEINKAUZ Loden
Our loden is made from 100% pure new wool. It is breathable, warming, and very durable. This natural product requires minimal care: odors disappear in the fresh air, and dirt can be brushed off once dry. What makes our loden special are its climate-regulating properties. The dense weave and fine surface pile make the jacket nearly windproof—without needing a membrane! And because we don’t use a membrane, the fabric remains highly breathable and maintains an optimal internal climate.
Fit Information
This jacket has a relaxed fit that allows for excellent freedom of movement—ideal for active outdoor use. The fit is slightly narrower than our “Huber” models. We've once again used the raglan sleeve design, proven in our Pedalist cycling jackets. A raglan sleeve extends in one piece to the collar, with a diagonal seam from the underarm to the collar, rather than ending at the shoulder like a traditional sleeve. This design improves adaptability to various body types and enhances comfort.
The sleeves are intentionally cut slightly longer—typical for an outdoor jacket—and can be easily adjusted with Velcro at the cuffs to prevent slipping.
A well-fitting hood that stays in place, even with head movement, was especially important to us! The Raudi features this hood—with a Velcro tab on the back and an integrated elastic drawcord with cord stoppers and high-quality leather pullers, it can be adjusted perfectly to fit your head. It keeps your ears warm, doesn’t slip, and protects against wind and weather.
