It is lined inside with pocket lining. Two eyelets are used to attach the included hat cord, which can be easily adjusted with a cord stopper and a small leather handle. And because you really only need this cord in windy, stormy, and other adverse conditions, it is stored in the zippered secret compartment inside the hat lid and can be attached when needed. This practical pouch inside the hat also serves – in true old trapper tradition – to store important documents and emergency cash while traveling. The water-repellent wax coating is PFC-free and can be refreshed at any time with commercially available waxes. We say there is bad weather, but we've got something to counteract it! Waxcotton: The perfect complement to our Loden products Our Loden has great properties in terms of moisture and wetness, but it does have its limits. So, some time ago, we began searching for a real shield against continuous rain. We found it in rainy England, the birthplace of nasty weather: English Waxcotton, as the name suggests, is made from waxed cotton and has been highly valued for centuries by sailors, farmers, shepherds, and hunters when the weather takes a turn. A rain cape specifically for outdoor use The design of the cape is aimed at covering as many hiking and everyday situations as possible: It remains open at the sides but is expanded in the upper arm area to create a kind of "canopy" over the arms. This design provides rain protection for the arms while ensuring good ventilation, preventing overheating of the upper body during movement.Additionally, the side opening offers several advantages in terms of freedom of movement and versatility: During rainy hikes, the arms can be kept dry under the front part of the cape. The back area is large enough to accommodate a backpack comfortably, and when it gets windy, the back can be secured around the waist using the two side straps.The length of the rain cape is designed according to the motto "as short as possible, as long as necessary". While hiking, it shouldn't be too large and cumbersome, but it should cover the knees when sitting. It's also fantastic for leisure activities. Whether hiking with or without a backpack, on a rainy walk with the dog, or especially cycling: The two loops inside the front allow it to be securely held above the handlebars against headwinds, providing a practical canopy that protects the entire body. The hood is ergonomically designed to minimize tendency to fold over the eyes. The face opening can be tightened with an elastic band, and the splash-proof zipper closes up to the chin. To prevent the hood from slipping too far over the face, it has an adjustable strap at the back of the head, allowing for secure and individual adjustment to your head shape. Impregnation: If, over time, the wax layer on the rain cape diminishes and no longer provides the desired rain protection, Waxcotton, like a wax jacket, can simply be rewaxed! There are various wax-based impregnation products available in stores that quickly resolve this issue and significantly extend the cape's lifespan. The cape weighs 1022g and can be folded down to 30x20x4cm for convenient transport on top of a backpack. The fabric is lightweight and airy, with the pleasant feel of cotton, while also being durable and strong as expected from outdoor clothing. It dries quickly in the air and is resistant to UV radiation.Moreover, this high-quality fabric combination offers another important advantage during the warm season: breathability and comfortable wear in hot temperatures. Polycotton is also machine washable up to 40°C. Like any material, polycotton ranges from cheap and less durable to long-lasting qualities made from high-quality yarns and featuring uniform and dense weaving. We use selected quality polycotton from European manufacturing. PFC-free water-repellent pre-impregnation The fabric is pre-equipped with a PFC-free water-repellent finish. PFC-free treatments are environmentally friendly as they do not leave behind non-biodegradable residues in nature, but they need to be refreshed from time to time. We recommend re-impregnating with a wax block and heat, for example, using the Dr. Gees Impregnating Wax offered by us. Simply rub the wax onto the fabric like an eraser and use a low-heat iron to liquefy and embed the wax into the fabric. This process takes a few minutes and can be repeated as desired. This additional waterproofing treatment provides an extra level of protection, especially before trips.By the way, every impregnation also affects the breathability properties of a fabric. For example, if you only want protection against wet meadows with morning dew, it makes sense to apply the impregnation only to the lower leg areas to maintain optimal breathability. On longer trekking tours, a complete impregnation for maximum rain protection would be preferred. But that's the beauty of waxing: you can decide what is sensible based on the specific conditions. We call the material from which this jacket is made "loden fleece." The fabric is warm and soft like fleece, but it is not made of polyester; instead, it is made of 100% virgin wool. It is also not a knitted fabric (like typical fleece) but rather a true double-face loden, which means it is a woven fabric that has been tightly processed and heavily brushed on both sides. With a weight of approximately 600g/m², it can be described as a heavy quality. We developed this fabric specifically for our purposes in collaboration with our fabric manufacturer. It is custom-made for us and combines wind-resistant properties with good insulation and a very pleasant, super-soft wearing comfort. Through a special yarn structure and thickness, as well as an elaborate brushing process, the fabric has an extremely soft and dense surface on both sides. Unlike most other loden fabrics, which may feel slightly rough, our loden fleece can be worn directly on the skin, for example, under short-sleeved shirts or T-shirts, without any scratchy feeling. The design of the "Adele" loden fleece jacket The jacket has a tailored, modern cut and provides sufficient freedom of movement, making it particularly comfortable to wear during hunting. Two large zippered pockets, trimmed with genuine leather, offer space for various items and keep your hands warm in winter. In the elbow, shoulder, and neck areas, we have reinforced the outer fabric with additional loden patches, also made of pure virgin wool. This provides extra protection against wear and tear in areas that are subject to high stress. The main elements of the jacket are double-stitched and additionally secured with a coverlock seam, which not only looks stylish but also ensures additional reinforcement of all seams. Even if a seam catches on branches, there is a second layer of reinforcement underneath.The practical 2-way zipper allows you to open the jacket from the bottom as well. This provides more freedom of movement when sitting or allows your stylish belt to peek through. Cut and sizes The "Adele" loden fleece jacket is available in sizes S, M, L, and XL. For better understanding: The men's loden fleece jacket "URS" and the women's model "ADELE" were created at approximately the same time as the establishment of our outdoor brand STEINKAUZ. Therefore, they are sometimes available under the WALDKAUZ label and sometimes as STEINKAUZ loden jackets. The hunting colors like moss green and brown were assigned to one brand, while the colorful leisure colors were assigned to the other brand. The same can be seen, for example, with the rain cape "WASSERMANN." The intention behind this decision was primarily to avoid mixing items specialized for hunting with items that are not suitable for hunting. Conversely, it poses no problem, but no hunter would go hunting in clothing that immediately catches the attention of game, and they also wouldn't want to go out with a shoulder bag that only opens with an audible click! Hence, in our opinion, the necessary separation between WALDKAUZ and STEINKAUZ.

Over the years, we’ve realized that a cycling jacket made from this natural material is missing on the market. Our research confirmed this: Cycling jackets for the transitional and cold seasons are in demand, and there is a lot of discussion about this topic in bike forums. However, what’s available so far are the typical cycling jackets made of synthetic fibers, often with membranes and sometimes with a small wool content. A proper cycling jacket was needed, so we developed a suitable cut: A bit shorter in the front, longer in the back, but still wearable in everyday life. The sleeves are long enough to keep the wrists covered even in a bent posture. We opted for the so-called raglan cut for the sleeves, as it provides plenty of freedom of movement. We consciously avoided reflective stripes so that everyone can wear the jacket "just because." If necessary, you can simply strap on a light belt for safety. This significantly increases freedom of movement, while maintaining the "rugged" look of the waxed fabric blend (and thus its everyday appeal).Whether for hiking, camping, bushcraft, hunting, fishing, or just for leisure—the Wanderbux is incredibly versatile. Its comfortable fit allows for great mobility, and the outer pockets (two open front pockets, and two flat, zippered side pockets) provide space for gear.The knee section is ergonomically shaped, and the Velcro strip at the hem allows for individual adjustment of the leg width. Our belt loops accommodate belts up to 4 cm wide, such as the "Unverwüstling" leather belt or the "Cargo" belt. The pants are fastened with a metal zipper and metal button. The leg circumference can be reduced with a Velcro strap at the hem, which is extremely helpful when cycling on gravel or mountain bikes, as the pant leg is less likely to get caught in the chainring.The Wanderbux is delivered with a pre-stitched leg length but can be easily adjusted to the perfect individual length either by yourself or by any tailor at a small cost. The Velcro strap is specifically placed so that it can be easily repositioned. After all, there's nothing better than a well-fitting pair of pants for hiking! The optimal fabric for summer outdoor pants Polycotton combines the benefits of cotton and polyester. The fabric is light and airy and has the pleasant feel of cotton, but it is also strong and durable, as expected from outdoor clothing. It dries quickly in the air and is resistant to UV radiation. In the warm season, this high-quality material combination also offers another important advantage: it is breathable and very comfortable to wear in warm temperatures. Additionally, polycotton is machine washable up to 40°C without any issues.Even within this material category, there is a wide range from cheap to high-quality, long-lasting options made from fine yarns and with a uniform, dense weave. We use selected quality polycotton and matching, equally high-quality threads from the company Amann. PFC-free water-repellent pre-impregnation The fabric is water-repellent thanks to a PFC-free impregnation. PFC-free impregnations are environmentally friendly because they do not leave non-degradable residues in nature. However, they need to be refreshed occasionally. We recommend re-impregnating with a wax block and heat, such as our Dr. Gees impregnation wax. The wax is simply rubbed onto the fabric like an eraser, then melted into the fabric with a low-heat iron. This process takes a few minutes and can be repeated as often as needed. This additional water protection is especially useful before embarking on tours.By the way: Every impregnation affects the breathability of a fabric. For instance, if you only want protection against wet grass in the morning dew, it makes sense to apply the impregnation only to the lower leg areas to maintain maximum breathability. On longer trekking tours, you may prefer full impregnation for maximum rain protection. The beauty of waxing is that you can decide for yourself based on the conditions what makes the most sense. Measure at the line where you wear your belt. The tape should rest loosely without tension, and you can have a shirt underneath, as it will potentially be tucked into the pants later. If you don't have a measuring tape, you can use a string, mark it, and then compare it to a ruler.Inseam lengthMeasure from the crotch to the top of your foot, ending about 2-3 cm above the ground.
